Phenomenological Modeling of Photoemission Spectra in Strongly Correlated Electron Systems

چکیده
A phenomenological approach is presented that allows one to model, and thereby interpret, photoemission spectra of strongly correlated electron systems. A simple analytical formula for the self-energy is proposed. This self-energy describes both coherent and incoherent parts of the spectrum (quasiparticle and Hubbard peaks, respectively). Free parameters in the expression are determined by fitting the density of states to experimental photoemission data. An explicit fitting is presented for the La1−xSrxTiO3 system with 0.08 ≤ x ≤ 0.38. In general, our phenomenological approach provides information on the effective mass, the Hubbard interaction, and the spectral weight distribution in different parts of the spectrum. Limitations of this approach are also discussed.

First-principles calculations of the electronic structure and spectra of strongly correlated systems:dynamical mean-field theory
A recently developed dynamical mean-field theory in the iterated perturbation theory approximation was used as a basis for construction of the ”first principles” calculation scheme for investigating electronic structure of strongly correlated electron systems. This scheme is based on Local Density Approximation (LDA) in the framework of the Linearized Muffin-Tin-Orbitals (LMTO) method. The clas...
متن کاملCalculation of photoemission spectra of the doped Mott insulator La 1 − x Sr x TiO 3 using LDA + DMFT ( QMC )
The spectral properties of La1−xSrxTiO3, a doped Mott insulator with strong Coulomb correlations, are calculated with the ab initio computational scheme LDA+DMFT(QMC). It starts from the non-interacting electronic band structure as calculated by the local density approximation (LDA), and introduces the missing correlations by the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT), using numerically exact quant...
متن کاملSpectral functions in doped transition metal oxides
We present experimental photoemission and inverse photoemission spectra of SrTiO3−δ representing electron doped d 0 systems. Photoemission spectra in presence of electron doping exhibit prominent features arising from electron correlation effects, while the inverse photoemssion spectra are dominated by spectral features explainable within single-particle approaches. We show that such a spectral...
متن کاملCoulomb interaction in oxygen p - shell in LDA + U method and its influence on calculated spectral and magnetic properties of transition metal oxides
Coulomb interaction between electrons on p-orbitals of oxygen atom in strongly correlated compounds is not negligible, since its value (Up) has comparable order of magnitude with the value of Coulomb interaction on dorbitals of transition metal atom (Ud). We investigate the effect of taking into account Coulomb correlations in oxygen p-shell in addition to the correlations in the transition met...
متن کامل‘True’ bosonic coupling strength in strongly correlated superconductors
Clarifying the coupling between electrons and bosonic excitations (phonons or magnetic fluctuations) that mediate the formation of Cooper pairs is pivotal to understand superconductivity. Such coupling effects are contained in the electron self-energy, which is experimentally accessible via angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). However, in unconventional superconductors, identifyin...
